More bills in Congress that would limit or ban guns in the home.
The most important ones include a ban on semi-automatic rifles, a ban of “high capacity” magazines and bans on certain types of semi-auto guns.
Senate Democrats introduced the legislation, calling it the Second Amendment Protection Act, to address a mass shooting at a church in Charleston, S.C. President Donald Trump and his administration had already announced they would ban military-style assault weapons.
In addition to gun control measures, Senate Democrats introduced a new gun-rights bill, the Gun Violence Prevention Act, which would make it easier for states to ban assault weapons, suppressors and high-capacity magazines.
The NRA has been vocal about the new legislation, and has urged Congress to pass it as quickly as possible.
The House passed its version of the bill last week.
